Ever wanted to know what dancers do in the summertime or what you can do in the summer? Today you find out! From practicing at home to intensives at the studio, dancers are very busy in the summer, but we all have fun!
Summer Intensives
Some dancers, mainly ballerinas, like to go to summer intensives to practice skills and technique before they start practicing for another production. These classes are exactly what they sound like-intense! Ballet intensives usually last a few weeks to a month or two. Dancers come here to improve themselves as dancers so that they are ready for the year to come. Dancers never stop training, and intensives are a great way to keep practicing!
Practicing At Home
There is absolutely nothing wrong with practicing at home instead of going to intensives, or even doing both! When dancers practice at home, they usually do similar things they might do at intensives, such as doing barré combinations, reviewing or learning dances, working on techniques, and more.
Why You Should Practice During the Summer
When dancers do not dance for a while, they will lose their strength and flexibility that they need. When dancers practice, not only are they keeping their strength and flexibility, but also improving on that as well. Practicing moves and technique is the best thing a dancer can do in the summer! (:
